Amazing project to store fresh water from rivers in Bay of Khambat-West Coast of India-Gujrat-Saurashtra. 30 km dam requires to be constructed.

The Kalpasar Project for establishing a huge reservoir for fresh waterin the sea for irrigation, drinking and industrial purposes. A 10 lane road link will also be set up over the dam, reducing the distance by 200 km between Saurashtra South Gujarat and Mumbai.
Gujarat is a water deficient State.
It occupies 6.4 % of land area of the country and has 5% of the country’s population.
Its surface water resource is only 2% of the country.
The per capita per annum water availability is 990 cubic meter which is much below the min requirement of 1700 cubic meter.
The Gulf of Khambhat 30 km dam will store about 10,000 million cubic meter water inflows of Narmada, Dhadhar, Mahi, Sabarmati and some of the Saurashtra rivers.
Creation of this fresh water reservoir does not involve any land acquisition.
This will be World’s largest man made fresh water reservoir in the sea.
Sufficient irrigation and drinking water for Saurashtra and Central Gujarat .
Double the Sardar Sarovar (Narmada Reservoir) capacity.
Time of completion 5 to 7 years.
More than 60 existing dams will get permanently filled up with water.
Wind and solar energy will be generated
Water of coastal area of Saurashtra & Central Gujarat will get converted into fresh water with reduction in soil salinity.
World class industrial estate in Dahej and Dholera (SIR).
